The valedictory function of the 5-day State Level workshop on Pedagogy and Assessment in History and Economics for Key Resource Persons organized by SCERT, Gangtok, Sikkim, in collaboration with Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, was held on 13th March 2026.
Mr A.D. Chettri - Director, Samagra Siksha, Textbook & Language, Education Department, Government of Sikkim, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries who attended the programme were Ms. Tashi Doma Acusla - Deputy Director, SCERT, Resource persons Mr. Bedabrata Gogoi - Faculty APU, Mr.Nandan Kumar - Faculty APU, Ms. Rini Tamuli – Faculty APU, Mr. Matrika Sharma - PGT History, PM SHRI GSSS Dikling, Ms.Durga Shrestha - Senior Lecturer, DIET, Gangtok, Faculties of SCERT and DIET Gangtok and teacher participants.
The aim of the programme was to strengthen competency-based pedagogy and assessment practices at the Senior Secondary Level in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (2020) and the evolving School Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE, 2023). It also aims to develop higher order thinking, analytical reasoning, interpretations of evidence, and contextual application of concepts.
The programme started with the welcome speech and offering of khada to the Chief Guest and other Guests. Ms. Lensong Lepcha - Assistant Professor,SCERT (co-ordinator) gave a brief report of the programme. A total of 66 participants attended the workshop enthusiastically and enjoyed the session. Feedback of the programme was also given by the participant teachers - Mrs. Arpana Kaphley, PGT (Economics) of Modern SSS and Mrs. Primula Tamang, PGT(History), Modern SSS.
The Chief Guest, in his address, congratulated the trainees for successfully attending the workshop and becoming the Key Resource Persons for the District and Block level training subsequently. He encouraged the participants to utilize the knowledge they have gained in pedagogy and assessment during classroom transactions and to utilize it for imparting trainings at the District and Block Level.
The programme ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants by the Chief Guest. Ms.Tashi Doma Acusla, Deputy Director, SCERT, proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was co-ordinated by Ms. Lensong Lepcha, Assistant Professor, SCERT and Ms. Dikila Lepcha, Assistant Professor, SCERT.
