Training on First Aid Trauma Care and Disaster Preparedness Conducted at Pakyong PHC.
Pakyong, March 11: A training programme on First Aid Trauma Care and Disaster Preparedness for a Resilient Health System was successfully organized by the Disaster Management Unit, District Hospital Pakyong, under the Health and Family Welfare Department at Pakyong Primary Health Centre (PHC).
The programme witnessed the active participation of Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, staff from PHCs and CHCs, ASHA workers, and other PHC healthcare personnel, highlighting a strong multi-sectoral approach toward strengthening emergency preparedness within the healthcare system.
Experts and resource persons from various departments, including the Fire Department, Police Department, NDRF team, and the PWD team, conducted sessions and practical demonstrations. The training focused on equipping healthcare workers with essential skills in first aid trauma management, emergency response, and disaster preparedness, ensuring readiness during emergencies and natural disasters.
During the programme, Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC) of Pakyong PHC, Dr. Siddhant Basnet, delivered an informative talk on disaster preparedness, emphasizing the importance of coordinated response and preparedness during emergency situations. He also briefed the participants on handling different types of medical emergencies effectively.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pakyong, Dr. Madan Mani Dhakal, provided an overview of the programme and expressed his appreciation to all the departments and personnel involved. He thanked the resource persons from the Fire Department, Police Department, NDRF, and PWD for their active participation and valuable demonstrations that enhanced the learning experience for the participants.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Ganga Sharma, Senior Community Health Officer (CHO), Pakyong PHC, who acknowledged the collaborative efforts of all departments and participants in making the training programme a success.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers and promote a resilient and well-prepared health system capable of responding effectively to trauma and disaster situations.
