Gangtok, March 10, 2026: The District Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plan (IEIAP) Committee, Gangtok, in collaboration with the Skill Development Department, Government of Sikkim, successfully inaugurated the Training Program on Social Media Content Creation today at the Positron Computer Education Institute, 6th Mile, Tadong, Gangtok, under the flagship Sikkim INSPIRES Program for Gangtok District.
Alongside this, the Training on Two-Wheeler Driver & Commercial Vehicle Services and Repair was also commenced at the Livelihood School, Tadong, Gangtok, conducted by the training provider Budha Jyoti Services and Enterprises, as part of the multi-sector skilling initiatives being implemented under the District IEIAP Plan.
The inaugural event began at 10:30 AM with the registration of trainees. The dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Assistant Collector, DAC Gangtok, Shri Bhawesh Khyalia, IAS, were warmly welcomed with a traditional Khada offering by Shri Jaganath Sharma, Managing Director, Positron Computer Education Institute.
A comprehensive overview of the Social Media Content Creation training under the District IEIAP, Gangtok, was presented by Shri Saimon Paul Rai, Dy. Commissioner-cum-Sub-Nodal Officer, Sikkim INSPIRES, Skill Development Department, who emphasised the critical role of digital literacy in strengthening economic inclusion across the district. The Sub-Nodal Officer also highlighted the broader framework of the Sikkim INSPIRES program, outlining the identified job roles across six priority sectors and the skilling initiatives being undertaken by the Skill Development Department. He encouraged the trainees to remain productive, outcome-oriented, and dedicated throughout the training period.
Ms. Pem Lhamu Bhutia, Assistant Director, Skill Development Department, highlighted the various programmes and training initiatives being undertaken under the Sikkim INSPIRES initiative, including the commencement of the Two-Wheeler Driver & Commercial Vehicle Services and Repair training at Livelihood School, Tadong.
Further, Ms. Ranjita Chettri, SPM, DDUGKY, State Institute of Capacity Building, shared brief success stories from the DDUGKY Project, Sikkim, showcasing the positive impact of the program on youth empowerment and employability across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Bhawesh Khyalia, IAS, encouraged participants to make the best use of the opportunities provided through the Sikkim INSPIRES initiative. He highlighted the growing demand for skilled digital content creators as well as technically trained drivers and vehicle service professionals, underscoring the role of youth in strengthening local entrepreneurship, tourism, transport services, and digital outreach.
A formal Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri Jaganath Sharma, Managing Director, Positron Computer Education Institute, who acknowledged the collective efforts of all departments, training institutions, faculty members, and participants in making the program a success.
The event concluded with light refreshments followed by informal interactions among trainees, officials, and trainers.
This initiative marks yet another significant milestone under the Gangtok District IEIAP Plan, reaffirming the commitment to promoting economic inclusiveness, youth skill development, and digital as well as technical empowerment in Sikkim.
