Celebration of Anna Prashan Programme at Rhenock Bazar ICDS, Pakyong District.
Pakyong, 07 March: The Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Pakyong District, successfully organized an Anna Prashan Programme on 07 March 2026 at Rhenock Bazar ICDS Centre to mark the important milestone of introducing solid food to infants who have completed six months of age.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Social Welfare Inspector Mrs. Mingma Lhamu Sherpa, who greeted the dignitaries, mothers, and participants and highlighted the significance of the Anna Prashan ceremony in promoting child nutrition and care.
Deputy Director-cum-Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Dikit Lepcha addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. She encouraged mothers to remain strong and positive while raising their children and emphasised the need to give equal importance to the education, health, and overall development of the girl child. She also informed the mothers about the Women Helpline Number 181 and Child Helpline Number 1098, urging them to make use of these services whenever required. She further shared information regarding child care, nutrition, and the importance of protecting and educating the girl child.
The ICDS Supervisor,Mrs. Bharati Chettri also addressed the gathering and spoke about the roles and responsibilities of Anganwadi Workers.
The programme began with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by the traditional feeding of food to six-month-old infants as part of the Anna Prashan ritual. Gifts were distributed to the infants and ICDS students to mark the occasion. The event witnessed active participation from ICDS beneficiaries, Anganwadi Workers, and mothers.
The Anganwadi Workers and children from the following ICDS Centres participated enthusiastically: Rhenock Bazar ICDS, Lall Bazar ICDS, Reshi ICDS, Kyongsha ICDS, Gurungaon ICDS, Lower Tarpin ICDS, Salghari ICDS, Upper Tarpin ICDS, Chalisey ICDS, Chalampong ICDS, Rungdung ICDS, Bhuktal Gaon ICDS, Upper Aritar ICDS, and Upper Rungdung ICDS.
The programme was attended by Social Welfare Inspectors from Rhenock BAC and various GPUs, along with 20 Anganwadi Workers representing ICDS Centres under Rhenock. Parents of six-month-old infants and members of the general public were also present.
The mothers present at the programme expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Department for organising such a meaningful and memorable event celebrating the health and well-being of their children.
