DC Gyalshing chairs ATMA Governing Body and District Farmers Advisory Committee (DFAC) Meeting.
Gyalshing, 7 March: The Agricultural Technology Management Agency(ATMA) Governing Body Meeting together with District Farmers Advisory Committee (DFAC) Meeting, was held today at the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre,Gyalshing.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, District Collector-Cum-wqDistrict Magistrate, Gyalshing.
The meeting had the presence of representatives from Agriculture,Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Fisheries,KVK Head,ATMA Block personnel and DFAC members who represented five district blocks.
The meeting reviewed ATMA activities which were implemented during the first funding period of 2025-26 by showing the results of farmer training programmes and demonstration projects and field day activities which took place throughout the entire district. The report confirmed that the Gyalshing district achieved 90 percent progress toward completing all activities required for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana(PMFBY) implementation, according to the report.
The members also discussed future plans, including the opening of farm schools in coordination with allied departments. The participants in the meeting examined three main areas of cherry pepper cultivation, which included methods to handle anthracnose disease and ways to maintain seed purity and effective cultivation methods.
The meeting selected the DFAC District President through a vote among block representatives. Mr Punol Lepcha, Dentam Block, was selected as President and Mr Kamal Kumar Sharma, Chongrang Block, as Vice President.
The meeting ended with discussions about how to boost agricultural development while improving farmers' skills across the district.
