On the occasion of the 18th Raising Day celebration of the 3rd IRBn, Manglay, Sikkim Police, the 1st IRBn, New Delhi emerged as the champions of the Inter-Unit Sikkim Police Football Tournament, defeating the Wireless and Communication Branch in the final match held at the Manglay playground.
The match was witnessed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim along Cabinet Ministers, the Director General of Police, Sikkim, Mr Akshay Sachdeva, Senior police officers, other dignitaries and a large gathering of football enthusiasts.
In a closely contested and thrilling encounter, the 1st IRBn secured victory with a solitary goal scored in the closing minutes of the match by the team captain and Commandant, Mr Palden Bhutia.
The Director General of Police, Mr Akshay Sachdeva, later presented the trophy and cash awards to the winning team, commending their commendable performance in the tournament.
