Hee–Martam Block, Gyalshing, establishes Farm School on Integrated Organic Farming System under ATMA.
Gyalshing,March 6:A Farm School on Integrated Organic Farming System (IOFS) was established under ATMA, Hee–Martam Block, Gyalshing District at Yangsum,today.
The programme was graced by the Panchayat President and members of the Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU).
The programme was attended by departmental officials, including Shri Suraj Chettri, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department;Ms Anjana Chettri, Krishi Sevika; Mr Jeewan Sharma, ICS Area Executive, and Shri Bivek Sharma, BTM. A total of 28 participants, including farmers and staff, attended the programme.
Shri Suraj Chettri, Deputy Director, highlighted the Integrated Farming System (IFS) model, explaining its importance, benefits, and various departmental schemes available to farmers.
Ms Anjana Chettri Krishi Sevika delivered a session on dairy farming, emphasising its role as a major component of the Integrated Farming System for enhancing farmers’ income and sustainability.
Mr Jeewan Sharma, ICS Area Executive, explained crop residue management through compost preparation, including Madhyam compost and vermicompost techniques, to promote sustainable soil fertility management.
Shri Bivek Sharma, BTM, conducted a session on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Disease Management (IDM), and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) in cucurbits and kharif vegetables, along with a hands-on demonstration for the farmers.
During the programme, Shri Puspa Kr Gurung, a progressive farmer, was selected as the Farm School Teacher for the IOFS Farm School at Yangsum.
The programme concluded with active participation and interaction among farmers, enhancing their technical knowledge on integrated and sustainable farming practices.
