Hon’ble Education Minister Reviews Preparations for State Academic Achievement Survey (SAAS)
A high-level meeting to review and finalise the modalities for the upcoming State Academic Achievement Survey (SAAS) was held in the Chamber of the Hon’ble Minister for Education, Shri Raju Basnett, on 02 March 2026.
The meeting was attended by Shri Sandeep Tambe, Principal Secretary, Education Department; Shri Tashi Chopel, Secretary, Education Department; Dr. Shanti Ram Adhikari, Director, SCERT; Shri Subbiah, Director, Exams & Scholarship; Shri A.D. Chettri, Director, Language & Textbook; Additional Directors from SCERT Ms. Tshering Lhamu Bhutia, Ms. Asha Khattri Samagra Shiksha, Shri. Bilal Prabhakar Exams & Scholarship, Shri. Rajiv Philip, Deputy Director, SCERT, Shri. Dig Bijay Basnett, Deputy Director, Samagra Shiksha and Shri. Kuldip Sharma, Sr. Lecturer, SCERT.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held regarding the scope, coverage, timeline, and implementation framework of SAAS for the academic year 2026–27. It was decided that the survey would be conducted during the second week of March 2026 for students of Class III across the State.
The survey will cover both Government and Private schools having an enrollment of more than five students in Class III, ensuring comprehensive representation and uniform standards of assessment.
The Hon’ble Minister emphasised that the State Academic Achievement Survey will serve as a crucial benchmark to assess foundational competencies, identify learning gaps, and guide evidence-based academic interventions. He directed all concerned departments to ensure transparency, standardisation, and smooth coordination for the successful conduct of the survey.
SCERT, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha and the concerned Directorates, will oversee the development of assessment tools, orientation of field personnel, monitoring mechanisms, and analysis of results.
