Celebration of Beti Janma Utsav at Rangpo Upper Bazar ICDS Centre, Rangpo.
Pakyong, March 2: The Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Pakyong District, organised the celebration of Beti Janma Utsav at Rangpo Upper Bazar ICDS Centre under Duga Block, Rangpo, as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
Anganwadi Workers and girl children from IBM ICDS, Mandi ICDS, Chanatar ICDS, Upper Bazar ICDS, Mazigaon ICDS, Golitar ICDS and new born baby girls participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The programme was graced by the Deputy Director-cum-Social Welfare Officer, Mrs. Dikit Lepcha, who addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of girls’ education, women’s rights, and the prevention of child marriage. She elaborated on the theme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” and raised awareness among the participants through motivational slogans. She highlighted the need for collective efforts to ensure the safety,security, dignity, and empowerment of girls in society.
Likewise, she highlighted important support services available to the public, including the Women Helpline Number 181 and the Child Helpline Number 1098, encouraging the community to utilize these services whenever required.
During the programme, gifts were distributed to newborn baby girls and ICDS students as part of the Beti Janma Utsav celebration. The celebration included a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Social Welfare Inspectors from the Rangpo Nagar Panchayat Office, Anganwadi Workers, and parents attended the programme.
Parents expressed happiness and appreciation for the initiative and actively participated in the event.
