A day long training programme on New Criminal Law (NCL), Case Preparation, Court Room Skills and Witness Management for Assistant Public Prosecutors, Sikkim, was successfully conducted on 28.02.26 in the Police Conference Hall, PHQ, Gangtok.
The maiden training programme was organised for the first time by the Directorate of Prosecution under the Home Department, Government of Sikkim.
The training programme was held in the presence of Ms Jyoti Subba, Director of Prosecution, Mr Jigmee P Bhutia, Senior Administrative Officer, Mr Girmey Bhutia, Assistant Director of Prosecution, Namchi/Soreng and Mr Deven Rai, Assistant Director of Prosecution, Pakyong/Soreng.
The main objective of today’s training programme was to strengthen the professional capabilities and enhance the quality of Prosecution in Sikkim.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address and introductory session about the program by Mr Jigmee P Bhutia, Senior Administrative Officer, Directorate of Prosecution.
The training session was conducted by the following Resource Persons
Additional Public Prosecutor Nimkit Lepcha, Gangtok who covered the wide range of topic from Court Room Skills to Witness Management, thereafter Public Prosecutor Tarden Lepcha, Namchi gave his valuable inputs and insights about New Criminal Laws (NCL) followed by Public Prosecutor Yadav Sharma, Gangtok who covered a wide range of topic from Criminal Miscellaneous Cases (Revision, Appeals) and Chief Examination.
The training programme concluded with a keynote address by the Director of Prosecution, Sikkim, who emphasised the role of Prosecutors in enhancing the conviction rate and strengthening the professional capabilities and quality of Prosecution, followed by the distribution of the Law Book titled Universal Criminal Manual containing Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,2023 (46 of 2023)

Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam,2023 (47 of 2023) by Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department keeping into account the major steps undertaken by the State Government in the implementation of newly enacted criminal laws. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Sonam G. Bhutia, C.O, Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department, Government of Sikkim.
