Veterinary Hospital, Gyalshing Conducts One-Day Refresher Training for Paravets under Assistance to State for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD)
Gyalshing, February 27:A one-day refresher training programme for Paravets was conducted under ASCAD at Veterinary Hospital,Gyalshing,today.
The training was organised by the guidance and direction of Mr B.B Limboo, Additional Director-cum-head of Office,AH&VS Gyalshing. The master trainers of this programme were Dr Pramoda Gurung, Deputy Director(Expert Surgeon) and Dr Joshbina Thapa, Expert Veterinary Officer. The training primarily focused on Avian Influenza (H5N1), wherein the causative agent, modes of transmission, clinical symptoms, and preventive measures were discussed in detail.
A practical demonstration on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for donning and doffing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits was conducted. The participants were also trained on the proper methods for:
-Collection and safe handling of affected birds
- Collection, preservation, and dispatch of samples
- Scientific disposal of carcasses as per prescribed guidelines
The training was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009, and the revised Action Plan for Prevention, Control and Containment of Avian Influenza (2021) issued by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.
Furthermore, the Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) for Gyalshing and Tashiding were constituted and trained as per the operational guidelines for effective containment measures during outbreak situations.
