Successful One-Day Orientation Training on Food Processing Held at Positron Computer Education Institute.
Gangtok, February 27, 2026: The Department of Food Processing Industries, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with Positron Computer Education Institute, successfully conducted a one-day Orientation Training Programme on Food Processing for Seed Capital SHG beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.
The programme was held on February 27, 2026, at Positron Computer Education Institute, 6th Mile Tadong, Gangtok District, and covered beneficiaries from both Gangtok and Mangan Districts.
The training aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge and practical insights required to formalize, strengthen, and scale their micro food processing enterprises in alignment with the national PMFME initiative under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Supported by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), the scheme extends financial, technical, and business support to promote value addition and commercialization of local produce such as ginger, vegetables, and spices from Sikkim.
During the session, resource persons highlighted the significance of the scheme in empowering SHGs through seed capital assistance, enhancing competitiveness, and enabling micro units to transition into the organised sector.
The successful conduct of the programme reflects the Sikkim Government’s continued commitment to fostering rural entrepreneurship and promoting sustainable growth in the food processing sector.
