Gyalshing, 26 February 2026:The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), under the Women, Children, Senior Citizens Divyangjan Welfare (WCSCDW) Department, Gyalshing, successfully concluded the Phase–III plan of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative for the year 2025–2026 with the implementation of a series of programmes across various institutions in the district during the month of February 2026.
The following programmes were organised with the objective of promoting the welfare, safety, health, and empowerment of the girl child and adolescent girls:
Bermiok ICDS – 16.02.2026: Celebration of Beti Janma Utsav
Khandu Senior Secondary School (SSS) – 20.02.2026: Awareness Programme on Menstrual Hygiene
Dubdi ICDS – 21.02.2026: Distribution of Baby Boxes
Gerethang Senior Secondary School (SSS) – 25.02.2026: Celebration and Felicitation of Girl Achievers
The programmes were conducted with the aim of encouraging positive attitudes towards the birth of the girl child, promoting health and hygiene among adolescent girls, supporting newborns and their families through essential infant care items, and recognising the achievements of meritorious girl students.
Through these initiatives, the department reaffirmed its commitment towards strengthening community awareness, promoting gender equality, and ensuring the holistic development, protection, and empowerment of girls and women at the grassroots level.
