Awareness Programme on Central and State Government Schemes Held at Mabong Sigeng.
Soreng, February 21: An Awareness Programme on various Central and State Government schemes was successfully organised at Mabong Sigeng GPK Hall under Mabong Sigeng GPU in Soreng District. The programme was a joint initiative of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Soreng, and the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Cell (SEED Cell).
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Santa Kumar Tamang, Hon’ble Zilla Member, Mabong Sigeng GPU. The proceedings were coordinated by Mr. Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara, Office In-Charge, SEED Cell, who served as the Master of Ceremonies.
Delivering the welcome address, Mr. Deepen Chettri, District Coordinator, Soreng, SEED Cell, extended warm greetings to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, resource persons and participants. He highlighted the objectives of the programme and underscored the importance of disseminating information on various Government schemes to empower aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Dipen Subba, Hon’ble OSD to the Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Sikkim, and General Secretary of SEED Cell. He elaborated on the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, particularly the “One Family, One Entrepreneur” initiative, and emphasised the need to inspire youth to adopt entrepreneurship as a dignified and sustainable career option. He stated that the vision of a “Samartha Sikkim” can be realised through strong institutional support, mentorship, and recognition of emerging entrepreneurs.
Mrs. Anula Gurung, General Manager, DIC Soreng, spoke on the crucial role of the District Industries Centre in promoting industrial growth at the district level. She detailed the services provided by DIC, including assistance with MSME registration, facilitation of credit-linked schemes, guidance on subsidies and incentives, handholding support to entrepreneurs, and coordination with financial institutions and line departments. She reaffirmed DIC Soreng’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of Government schemes for the benefit of the local community.
Resource persons also delivered comprehensive presentations on key schemes such as the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and the UNNATI Scheme, offering practical insights and guidance to the participants.
An interactive session was held, during which participants raised queries regarding various schemes and sought updates on their previously submitted applications. The officials responded with clarity and assured continued support and guidance from DIC Soreng and SEED Cell for the successful implementation of entrepreneurial initiatives.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief Guest appreciated the organisers for conducting an informative and impactful programme. He encouraged members of the local community to actively participate in such initiatives and avail themselves of Government schemes to enhance their livelihoods and promote self-reliance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Niraj Dong, Joint Coordinator, SEED Cell, Soreng District, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, resource persons and participants for their presence and cooperation.
The awareness programme reflected the sustained efforts of SEED Cell and DIC Soreng in strengthening entrepreneurship, enhancing awareness of Government schemes, and promoting inclusive economic development across the State.
