Fire Department Conducts Demonstration at GFPF, Emphasises Critical Importance of Fire Safety.
[21st Feb] In the presence of Shri B.B. Chettri, Fire Station Officer Singtam and team, Smt. Chanda Rani Rai, Managing Director, GFPF and all staff members of GFPF, the Government Fruit Preservation Factory (GFPF), today hosted a comprehensive fire safety demonstration conducted by the Fire Department–Singtam to enhance awareness, preparedness, and emergency response capabilities among staff members. The session aimed to educate personnel on fire prevention measures, safe evacuation procedures, and the proper use of firefighting equipment.
During the demonstration, fire officials provided practical training on handling fire extinguishers, identifying potential fire hazards within industrial environments, and responding effectively during emergency situations. The team also explained the different classes of fire and the appropriate methods for controlling each type, ensuring that employees understand the correct safety protocols to follow. In addition, a live demonstration of the fire hose system was conducted, where participants were shown how to operate hose reels, manage water pressure, and coordinate as a team during firefighting operations.
Officials highlighted that fire safety is not only a regulatory requirement but a fundamental responsibility in industrial facilities, especially in units dealing with food processing machinery, electrical systems, and heat-generating equipment. The session reinforced the importance of routine safety checks, clear emergency exits, and staff readiness to minimize risks and protect both personnel and infrastructure.
GFPF management expressed appreciation to the Fire Department for conducting the informative program and reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety and compliance. Such initiatives strengthen preparedness, promote a culture of safety, and ensure that all personnel are equipped to act swiftly and responsibly in case of emergencies.
