RRT team of the 36th Bn SSB Gyalshing, in coordination with the DDMA, Gyalshing, Organises Awareness-Cum-Training programme on earthquake relief and rescue for students of Govt SS Khandu, Mukrung SS, Rimbik SS and DSLM Darap SSS
Gyalshing,February 20:The Rapid Response Team( RRT)team of the 36th Battalion, in coordination with the District Disaster Management Authority, Gyalshing(Sikkim), conducted an Awareness-Cum-Training programme on earthquake relief and rescue for students and teachers of Govt Secondary School Khandu (Dentam Sub Division), Government Secondary School Mukrung (Dentam Sub Division),Govt SS Rimbik (Gyalshing),and Damber Singh Limboo Memorial Darap Sr Sec. School (Gyalshing), today.
The programme was carried out by two teams comprising 10 personnel each from the 36th Battalion. During the session, live demonstrations were conducted on scientific methods of safely rescuing persons trapped under debris in situations such as earthquakes or landslides, preparation of improvised stretchers using locally available resources, and administration of first aid before shifting the injured to the hospital. A practical demonstration of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in cases of cardiac arrest was also conducted.
The initiative undertaken jointly by the SSB and DDMA was widely appreciated by the school authorities and the local community. Such programmes strengthen the bond between security forces and civilians and further enhance mutual trust and cooperation.
