Namcgi, 20 February: A field visit was conducted at Lower Lingzo and Dalep Block by Saran Kalikotey, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), along with B. B. Tamang, Block Development Officer (BDO), Rabongla, in the presence of the Panchayat President of Kewzing Bakhim GPU, ward panchayat members, Assistant Engineer BAC Ravangla, and local residents.
The team inspected houses damaged due to the recent earthquake and interacted with affected families to assess the extent of damages. The officials assured that ex-gratia assistance for damaged houses will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries as per the norms of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and directed the concerned departments to submit detailed assessment reports for further necessary action.
During the visit, the officials also reviewed the progress of the construction of houses under the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana scheme (SGAY) in Lower Lingzo and Dalep Block. The SDM and BDO inspected the ongoing construction of SGAY houses and assessed the status of work on the ground. Emphasis was laid on ensuring the timely completion of construction works while maintaining quality standards, and the concerned officials and implementing agencies were directed to expedite the works and ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe.
