One-day Training Programme for Batch 2 All Sikkim Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and Additional Workers Welfare Association Held in Namchi District.
Namchi,18 February: The second session of the two-day Sarathi 1.0 training programme for Batch–2 (30 Anganwadi Workers) was successfully conducted at Jorethang ICDS Hall on 18th February 2026.
The programme was compered by Miss Tila Rupa, District Coordinator, Soreng, followed by a welcome address from Miss Anzila, District Coordinator, Namchi, who highlighted the importance of the training in strengthening community awareness on addiction prevention and mental health.
An interactive ice-breaking session and address on the objectives of Sarathi 1.0 were delivered by Shri Bishal Sharma, Project Director, who also appreciated the visionary leadership of Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, in promoting an addiction-free and mentally healthy society.
The session included activities on addiction and mental health, followed by participant presentations. Smt Kumari Majhi, President, Drug Safai Abhiyan, addressed the gathering and honoured Sarathi staff with Khadas for their exemplary service toward society and for successfully conducting the two-day training.
Following this, the Project Director addressed the audience on the issues of mental health, alcohol addiction, and mobile addiction, which were subsequently portrayed through a group skit activity. He then elaborated on the value and importance of forming Sarathi Samaj in their respective villages by the trained Sarathi members. He also highlighted the ongoing state-level skit competition on the theme “Nasha Mukt Sikkim Starts With Me,” with prize amounts of ₹90,000, ₹50,000, and ₹30,000 for the top three winners, respectively.
This was followed by the distribution of certificates and banners for the formation of Sarathi Samaj.
The programme concluded with a group photograph and a renewed hope and collective mission to build a drug-free and mentally healthy Sikkim.
