Press Release from Farmers' Welfare Board of Sikkim
Information & Public Relations Department
Date: 12.02.2026
Under the leadership of Chairman, Farmers Welfare Board of Sikkim, Shri Padam Prasad Sharma, along with Board Members Shri Chandra Kumar Sharma, Smt Samjana Rai and Shri Hemant Dawari, the Farmers Welfare Board of Sikkim is participating in the three-day Expo of Vitafoods India 2026, a premier international gateway for the nutraceutical, functional food and dietary supplement sectors.
As India’s first 100 per cent organic State, Sikkim holds a unique competitive advantage in supplying high-quality organic raw materials suited for value-added health and wellness products. The participation aims to facilitate the transition of farmers from traditional cultivation to becoming stakeholders in the high-value global wellness economy.
The initiative seeks to position Sikkim’s organic produce as a premium raw material for the global nutraceutical industry and to establish direct “Farm-to-Formulation” linkages with manufacturers and industry stakeholders, enhancing market access and value realisation for farmers.
The engagement aligns with the State Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen organic agriculture, expand market opportunities and improve sustainable livelihoods in the farming sector.
