A warm welcome was accorded to the newly appointed Members of the Students’ Welfare Board — Dr. Sabitri Mukhia, Ms. Kunzang Choeki Bhutia, Shri Naresh Chettri and Ms Hannah Yonzon, Joint Director as Member Secretary — at a programme held today at the Education Department Head Office, Gangtok.
The welcome ceremony was led by Shri Sonam Chopel Sherpa, Chairperson, Students’ Welfare Board, in the gracious presence of Ms. Tenzing Kizom (IAS) Secretary, Higher Education; Shri Tashi Chophel Lepcha (SCS) Secretary, School Education; Shri Chetraj Mishra, Principal Chief Engineer; along with senior officials of the Education Department, Government of Sikkim.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson expressed confidence that the inclusion of the newly nominated members would further strengthen the Board’s commitment towards student welfare, academic excellence, and inclusive development. He emphasized that the Students’ Welfare Board remains dedicated to safeguarding the interests of students across the State, ensuring equitable opportunities, and fostering an environment that nurtures talent, leadership, and holistic growth.
The Board reaffirmed its collective resolve to work in close coordination with the Education Department to implement progressive policies and initiatives aimed at empowering the student community of Sikkim.
The programme concluded with a shared commitment to uphold the vision of quality education and strengthened welfare mechanisms for the youth of the State.
