Soreng, February 11: Under the umbrella of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY), a specialised "Training Programme on Bamboo Work Artisan for Senior Citizens" was officially inaugurated today at the Positron Institute in Deythang, Rinchenpong Constituency.
​The initiative is sponsored by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyanjan Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The programme is organised by the State Institute of Capacity Building (SICB) under the Skill Development.
​The inaugural ceremony was graced by a host of prominent officials and local leaders, highlighting the cross-departmental support for the empowerment of the elderly.
​The Chief Guests for the programme was  Mr Phurba Tsh Bhutia, Chairman, Land use and Environment Board, Mr Purna Prasad Sharma, OSD, Animal Husbandry Department, Mr CK Chettri, Assistant Director, State Institute of Capacity Building (SICB).
