The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Gyalshing, under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, organized a legal awareness programme at Dhupidara GPU on 30 January 2026, focusing on child protection and women's safety laws.
Mr. Bikalp Kakri, Advocate, served as the resource person and explained the key aspects of the POCSO Act, including offences against children, reporting responsibilities, and child-friendly legal procedures. He emphasised the importance of community awareness and early reporting in preventing abuse.
The session also covered support and grievance redressal mechanisms for women, including the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at workplaces and the SHe-Box online complaint portal for sexual harassment cases. Participants were informed about emergency services such as Women Helpline 181 and Child Helpline 1098, which provide immediate assistance and counselling support.
The programme saw participation from Panchayat representatives, community members, and children from the area, who actively engaged in the discussion. DHEW Gyalshing continues to conduct such outreach programmes to strengthen legal awareness and promote a safer environment for women and children.
