PM SHRI CONVENTION -2025-26
12TH DECEMBER, 2025: The two-day-long State Level PM SHRI Convention was organized by the Education Department on 11th & 12th December, 2025 at PM SHRI Sir TNSS School, Gangtok. The inaugural programme was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Education Department Shri Raju Basnet as the Chief Guest. The programme has the presence of Shri Sonam Palzor, OSD, Eduction Department, Shri Tashi Chophel, Secretary, School Education, Shri Sonam Denzongpa, Principal Director, Shri A.D. Chettri, Additional Director, Smt. Pemba Lhamu, Joint Director (Scholarship), Smt. Lamkila Bhutia(Planning), Joint Director, Shri Deoraj Bagdas, Assistant Director(PM SHRI), officers, officials, teachers and 410 students from 47 PM SHRI Schools of the State. The PM SHRI Convention is organized with an objective to encourage students’ overall development, providing a platform to showcase their talent and to create an interactive environment between the PM SHRI Schools.
Shri Tashi Chophel, Secretary (SE), in his welcome address, highlighted the significance of the PM SHRI Convention and informed the gathering about the selection of schools as PM SHRI Schools. He encouraged the children to take part in all the activities and take it as an opportunity to grow and excel. He motivated the students to avail the benefits of various schemes initiated by the Government, which will help them to be good citizens of the country.
The various competitions like Science Exhibition, Quiz, Debate, Extempore, Traditional Folk Dance, Skit, Role Play, and sports events like 100m race, 200m race, 400m race, relay race, long jump, shot put, etc. were organised during the said convention. The competitions was judged by an esteemed panel of Judges, namely Dr. Bharat Pradhan, Sr. Scientist, Sikkim Biodiversity Board, Shri Nawraj Lamsal, Assistant Director of Skill Development Department, Shri Lhakpa Lepcha from National School of Drama, Shri Yadav Sunam from Culture Department, Ms. Puja Gurung from Amitabha School, Smt. Pemba Lhamu-Joint Director, Smt. Lamkila Bhutia-Joint Director, Shri Jamyang Wangdi, Quiz Master, Shri Roshan Mangar-PET, Shri Rikzing Dorjee Sherpa-PET and Shri Rinchen Lepcha-PET.
The video on PM SHRI displaying the key saturation status of the National Education Policy was presented during the convention. PM SHRI Website for Sikkim was launched by the Hon’ble Minister on the said occasion.
Hon’ble Minister, Education Department, on his address, highlighted the significance of the programme and informed the students about the facilities that have been provided by the Government for PM SHRI Schools. He put in the picture about the commitment of the Government towards delivering the best Education to the students and to make our state a 100% literate state very soon. He congratulated the students for their participation in various competitions and wished them the best of luck for the coming days.
The Closing Day was attended by Shri Sonam Denzongpa, Principal Director of the Education Department, as the Chief Guest on 12.12.2025. Two students shared their experience of the PM SHRI Convention and the students of PM SHRI Namchi Girls SSS performed a traditional folk dance during the closing day. Shri Sonam Denzongpa, on his address, shared his experience with the students in Education and motivated the students to take part in activities with full enthusiasm and interest. The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the participants. The winners of various events are as under:
