A field visit was conducted today by the Secretary, Excise Department, Ms. Yishey D. Yongda, to Mount Distilleries Ltd., Mayel & Fraser Ltd. and Sikkim Distilleries Ltd. She was accompanied by Commissioner Excise, Smt. Binita Chettri, Deputy Commissioners Shri Wangchuk Pakhrin and Shri Kesang Bhutia and other officials of the department. The visit was made to review the ongoing works under the “Logistics and Monitoring System for Distilleries and Breweries” (LMSDB) Project.
During the visit, the Secretary was apprised by the project team about the stage-wise works being undertaken as well as the status of activities underway. The Secretary reviewed the updates in detail and issued firm directions to accelerate the pace of work.
Emphasising the importance of timely implementation, the Secretary instructed the team to carry out all works on a war footing to  ensure that set deadlines are met without any delay. The LMSDB initiative is an important reform by the Government aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and real-time monitoring across distilleries and breweries in the State.
Additionally, a detailed visit was made to the production units.
