The week-long Golden Jubilee Celebration of Mangzing Government Secondary School, under the Rangang–Yangang Constituency of South Sikkim, has commenced.
Namchi, 10 December : Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly and Area MLA, Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, formally inaugurated the week-long programme by hoisting the flag.
Also present at the inaugural ceremony were Yangang SDM Shri K. L. Dahal, SDPO Ravangla, OSD to the Deputy Speaker Ms. Denkila Bhutia, Yangang BDO, Honorable Zilla Panchayat Member Shri K. D. Kafley, Shri Yapchung Bhutia, Smt Leela Kumari Rai and Smt Prem Doma Tamang, CLC President Mr Tengayla Namkha, Wang Tashi Bhutia, JD Education, Honourable Panchayat Press and Panchayat members, SKM Party Constituency-level Youth Coordinator Shri Anil Gurung, General Secretary (Literary Wing) Shri Parsu Dhakal, JS (Labour Wing) Shri Thakur Karki, AD Sports, Departmental heads, Social workers, Contractors, HM and School staff, SKM party functionaries along with students and large gathering of villagers.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Deputy Speaker and Area MLA Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa expressed her happiness that the Golden Jubilee Celebration has been organised with students, youth, and the community as its focal point. Emphasising the inclusion of students in every programme of the Jubilee, she stated that today’s students are the ones who will shoulder the responsibilities of society and the state in the future, and therefore, they must be provided ample opportunities from an early age.She further remarked that the model prepared by Mangzing Secondary School for the Golden Jubilee Celebration is an example of how success can be achieved through hard work and positive thinking.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest inaugurated the “Golden Jubilee Garden” and also released the school magazine Swarnim Smriti, published jointly by the organising committee and the school.
An open volleyball tournament was also inaugurated during the ceremony. Likewise, various cultural performances and sports events were organised as part of the programme. It is to be noted that this week-long Golden Jubilee Celebration will conclude on 17th December.
