Mangshila hosts Special General Meeting of SABA

Mangan, Dec 9 (IPR): The Special General Meeting of SABA (Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association) was convened at Mangshila, Mangan District, on 08/12/2025.
The meeting was organised by the Mangan District Boxing Association (MDBA) under the leadership of the President (MDBA) Mr Palden N Lachungpa, General Secretary(MDBA) Mr Ganesh Kumar Subba in collaboration with the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association.
The meeting had the presence of the President SABA, Mr Jaslal Pradhan (Arjuna Awardee in Boxing) Chief Coach (SABA) Ms Sandhya Gurung, (Dronacharya Awardee)Vice President (SABA) Mr Bee Tshering Bhutia,
General Secretary (SABA) Ms Anjana Thapa, Joint Secretary (SABA) Mr. Papu Pradhan, Treasurer (SABA) Mr. Sahadeo Chettri along with all the executive members and the Presidents from all the six Districts of Sikkim.
The Special Guest invitee from Soreng District “Sikkim Youngsters Boxing Club”, Rumbuk also attended the meeting and put forth their valuable suggestions for the promotion and development of boxing at the grassroots.
The meeting saw a panel of discussions pertaining to the development of boxing in Mangan District in particular and Sikkim state in general. Discussion on the organisation of State and National level championships in all categories were held in which all the District bodies placed their valuable suggestions which was positively heard by the house.
The President (SABA) Mr Jaslal Pradhan briefed the house regarding the contribution of Sikkim Boxing in the lives of the youths by helping them get induction in the Defence and Police services in the past and appealed all the Districts to promote the game of boxing at the grassroots by bringing the public into confidence.
Earlier in the meeting the President(MDBA) Mr Palden N Lachungpa apprised the house regarding proposal to be placed before the Government of Sikkim for development of boxing infrastructure in Mangan District seeking support from all the Districts. It is to mention here that Mangan District has been producing a lot of boxers who have brought fame to the District at the State as well as National Championships.
The President Mangan District Boxing Association Mr Palden N Lachungpa extended his sincere gratitude to the Government of Sikkim for the encouragement and support during the times of need.
Various other issues were put forth by all the Districts which was discussed at length.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the General Secretary Mangan District Boxing Association Mr Ganesh Subba.
