Formation of Nari Adalat at GPU 52 Barfung Jarong GPU Under Ravangla Sub-Division
Namchi, 8 December: A Gram Shabha on NARI ADALAT was convened today under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Panchyat President in presence of SDM Ravangla Shri Saran D Kalikotey, Planning Coordinator Miss, Sarita Thatal from BAC Ravangla, and all Hon'ble women representatives of GP, AWW, SHG members, and female staff of GP in attendance.
Nari Adalat is a scheme of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. SDM Ravangla provided an overview of the scheme.
Total of seven members have been constituted as part of the Nari Adalat, comprising women elected representatives, SHG members,
Anganwadi/ASHA workers, and local women leaders.
The House approved the following women as members of the Nari Adalat:
1. Mrs. Renuka Chettri, Hon'ble VP, as Mukhya Niya Sakhi;
2. Mrs. Doma Lucky Bhutia, Hon'ble Panchyat Member;
3.Mrs. Uma Chettri, Hon'ble Panchyat Member; 4. Miss Chandra Kala Sharma, Hon'ble Panchyat Member;
5. Mrs. Tshering Yanchen Bhutia, AWW;
6. Mrs. Sangey Doma Bhutia, SHG Member; and 7. Mrs. Hema Biswakarma, SHG Member as Members of Nari Adalat.
This initiative by the Women and Child Development Department aims to ensure timely support, counselling, and accessible justice for women at the grassroots level.
The Nari Adalat will function as a community-based platform for mediation, counselling, and peaceful resolution of minor family disputes, neighbourhood issues, and women-related grievances.
The establishment of the Nari Adalat at GPU 52 Berfung Jarong, under Ravangla Sub-Division, is expected to enhance women’s empowerment, community harmony, and effective justice delivery within the Panchayat area.
