The Co-ordination Meeting of Director of Prosecution, Sikkim with SDPO'S, SHO’S and Court Inspectors was held on 29.11.25 in the Conference Hall of Rural Development Department at 11.am.
The meeting started with welcome speech by Mr. Jigmee P. Bhutia, Senior Administrative Officer, Directorate of Prosecution, Home Department.
Presiding over the meeting, Ms. Jyoti Subba, Director of Prosecution, Sikkim emphasized the importance of collaboration and communication between Police and Prosecution for enhancing the criminal justice system in the state.
The meeting was attended by key officials from Police Department including SDPO'S, SHO'S and Court Inspectors from all the district of Sikkim. The said meeting also had the presence of Assistant Directors of Prosecution for all the district of Sikkim.
The Officials present in the meeting provided current updates on various issues faced by them in their day-to-day proceedings based on the agenda of the meeting as below :
1. Bottlenecks faced by the I.Os during Investigation/filing of chargesheet.
2. Difficulties faced by I.Os in Court procedures.
3.Measure to ensure smooth coordination between Investigation and Prosecution.
4.Hinderance if any in meeting timelines for filing chargesheet as prescribed under BNSS,2023.
5. Mandatory provisions of the Act to be followed and adhered to.
The meeting had an active participation from all the officials present in the meeting and few corrective measures such as formation of Trial Monitoring Committee to be formed proposed by SHO, Ranipool P.S was discussed in length.
The Director of Prosecution, Sikkim set a clear roadmap on how best to intensify the criminal conviction rate of the state through clear communication and mutual respect between two important pillars of ICJS 2.0 through extensive use of e-prosecution by both the parties.
The meeting ended with Vote of Thanks by Ms. Tamanna Chhetri, Assistant Director of Prosecution, Gangtok/Mangan.
