Gangtok, 19th November: The Department of Cooperation, Gangtok District, organised a one-day workshop on “Best Practices of Cooperatives” under the aegis of International Year of Co-operatives -2025 and the 72nd All India Co-operative week. The programme began with the singing of Vande Mataram, commemorating its 150th anniversary. Written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the song has long been associated with India’s national spirit and pride.
The workshop featured three distinguished resource persons.
Mr. Bhim Lal Pandey, President of Luing Perbing MPCS, delivered a detailed session on “Best Practices of Cooperatives.” He highlighted practical strategies, operational models, and successful cooperative approaches that societies can adopt to improve efficiency and strengthen member participation.
Ms. Deeki Dolma, Assistant Professor, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College, presented on “Growth of Cooperatives in the State of Sikkim.” She discussed the evolution of the cooperative movement in the state, the achievements of various societies, and the increasing role of cooperatives in socio-economic development.
Mr. Amber Chettri, Manager of Nandok Saramsa MPCS, spoke on “Bookkeeping of the Society and Audit Preparedness.” His session focused on the importance of maintaining accurate financial records, adhering to audit guidelines, and ensuring transparency and accountability within cooperative societies.
The workshop concluded on a positive note, with participants gaining valuable insights into strengthening cooperative governance and enhancing organizational performance.
