A State Level Competition under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, was organised by the State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Education Department, on 12th November 2025 at PM SHRI Sir Tashi Namgyal Sr. Sec School, Gangtok.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Sonam Chopel Sherpa, Chairman, Student Welfare Board, Education Department, Government of Sikkim. Shri A. D. Chettri, Additional Director, Samagra Shiksha, and Shri Deepak Rai, Accounts Officer, Samagra Shiksha, graced the event as Special Guests. The programme also witnessed the presence of education officials from districts and blocks, escort teachers, and participating students representing various government schools across all six districts.
The panel of judges for the event comprised Ms. Manika Sharma, Ms. Hem Lata Gurung, Mr. Siddarth Neopaney, Ms. Rinzing Ongmu Lepcha, and Quiz Master Ms. Uma Upadhaya, faculty member of PM SHRI Sir T. N. S. S. S., Gangtok.
In his opening address, Shri A. D. Chettri outlined the objectives of the day’s event, followed by a presentation of the State’s Action Taken Report on the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme by Shri Sushil Tamang, State Nodal Officer.
The Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme, conceptualised by the Government of India, aims to create a sustained and structured cultural connection among people from diverse regions of the country.
The State Level Competition marked the culmination of school, block, and district-level rounds, and was held in three categories:
1. Folk/Traditional Dance Competition (Classes I–V):
• 1st Position: Sakhia Rai & Aayan Tamang – Titireybotey PS, Pakyong District
• 2nd Position: Yozana Biswakarma – Middle Takuthang PS, Soreng District
• 3rd Position: Ayushna Pradhan & Diksha Chettri – Radhu PS, Gyalshing District
2.  Quiz Competition (Classes VI–VIII):
• 1st Position: Sayog Dural & Abhinay Sharma – PM SHRI Adampool JHS, Gangtok District
• 2nd Position: Varuna Chettri & Sogee Lepcha – Lingthem JHS, Mangan District
• 3rd Position: Susa Limboo & Nehal Gurung – North Regu JHS, Pakyong District
3. 3D Model Exhibition-cum-Competition (Classes IX–XII):
• 1st Position: Jamphel Bhutia – Kewzing SSS, Namchi District
• 2nd Position: Deepanjali Tamang – Aritar SS, Pakyong District
• 3rd Position: Sancha Maya Subba – KGSSS, Kabi, Mangan District
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Shri Sonam Chopel Sherpa congratulated all the participants for their outstanding performances. He emphasized the importance of India’s linguistic and cultural diversity and urged students to take pride in learning and preserving their community languages and dialects.
Trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were awarded to all winners and participants by the Chief Guest.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Sushil Tamang, State Nodal Officer, Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme. Ms. Anjana Thapa, State Yoga Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, officiated as the Master of the Ceremony.
