On 6th November 2025, awareness sessions under the Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan were successfully conducted for three schools located in different areas of West Sikkim under the supervision of Rinchenpong Primary Health Centre (PHC). Session conducted by Mrs.Neelam Rasaily and Ms .Bishnu Maya Sharma. The main objective of these sessions was to spread awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse and to encourage them to adopt a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle.
The sessions were held at the following schools:
1. K.B. Limboo Senior Secondary School, Sreebadam – A total of 121 students, along with their teachers, actively participated in the interactive awareness programme. The students showed keen interest and engaged in discussions about the ill effects of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco on health and society.
2. Deythang Secondary School – Here, 56 students and teachers took part in the session. The importance of mental and physical well-being, peer pressure management, and healthy coping mechanisms were highlighted during the session.
3. Hatidunga Government Secondary School – The session witnessed participation from 60 students along with the teaching staff.
The event concluded with all participants taking a pledge to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a Nasha Mukta Bharat (Drug-Free Sikkim).
Through these sessions, the students were motivated to become ambassadors of the campaign and spread the message of a drug-free society among their peers, families, and communities. The programme reflected the joint effort of the Health Department , Social welfare Department and Education Department towards safeguarding the youth and promoting a healthier future for the nation.
