Closing Ceremony of 79th IDCC and Farewell Programme Held at Yangang Senior Secondary School
Yangang, South Sikkim 28 October: The closing ceremony of the 79th Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDCC), along with a heartfelt farewell programme, was held today at the auditorium of Yangang Senior Secondary School. The event was chaired by Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, and attended by Shri Bikash Basnet (Political Secretary to HCM), Shri CL Gurung (Advisor, Food Processing Department), Shri SB Rai (OSD, Agriculture Department), SDM Yangang Shri KL Dahal, YSSS Principal Shri Puspa Raj Dhungel, FI Yangang Shri DK Pradhan, Vice President Nari Shakti Smt. Pramila Tamang, Smt. Meera Basnet, General Secretary IDCC Shri Dil Hang Subba, Shri Durga P. Basnet, Youth Convenor Shri Anil Gurung, YTDC President Smt. Ranjita Gurung, members of IDCC, and officials from various line departments.
The programme commenced with a welcome address and agenda presentation by SDM Yangang, followed by a brief account presentation of the 79th IDCC by Shri DK Rai. Constructive discussions and valuable suggestions were shared by the house members.
In the event YTDC was presented a tourism award, which was awarded to Yangang as one of the major destination of the Northeast region in a recent event held at Shillong. Followed by an address by tourism stakeholders, Shri Robin Basnet & Shri Bijay Limboo.
In his address, Shri Bikash Basnet expressed gratitude to all committee members and volunteers for their teamwork, sincerity, and commitment that led to the grand success of this year’s Independence Day celebrations at Yangang.
Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa applauded the exemplary efforts of all members and sub-committees for organizing a meaningful, eco-friendly, and socially responsible celebration. She highlighted that this year’s Yangang event was themed around “Nasha Mukta Sikkim” (Drug-Free Sikkim) and featured initiatives like “Mero Bato Mero Bot”, envisioned by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), along with educational competitions such as chess, painting, poetry, and speech contests. She extended heartfelt thanks to all line departments, panchayats, volunteers, and supporting committees for their cooperation and contribution.
Following the proceedings, a farewell ceremony was held in honour of Shri Nirmal Pradhan, Manager of SISCO Bank Yangang, who has been transferred to the Namchi Branch. He was felicitated warmly for his dedication, sincerity, and service to the people of Rangang-Yangang.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective spirit of gratitude and unity that marked the successful completion of the 79th IDCC activities.
