Sikkim Soldierathon 2.O
1.The Eastern Command and Trishakti Corps, in collaboration with 'Fitistan: Ek Fit Bharat', successfully hosted the second edition of "Sikkim Soldierathon" (a Hill Half Marathon) on 26th October 2025 at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. The occasion was graced by Shri Om Prakash Mathur Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim and General (Dr.) VK Singh Hon'ble Governor of Mizoram. The event themed 'Great Himalayan Connect', aimed to strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and the citizens of India, particularly the youth, while promoting fitness and sports tourism in the scenic state of Sikkim as part of "Great Himalayan connect".
2.The marathon featured three categories: 5 Km, 10 Km and 21 Km, attracting over 2200 participants pan India. Winners received attractive prizes, every participant received an achievers medal & promotional items. The event also showcased diverse cultural performances, adding to the exhilarating and electrifying atmosphere.
3.In his message to the runners, Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, stated "Every step-you take is a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of our soldiers guarding our borders. I am honoured to be part of this new vibrant initiative to promote a 'Fit India' and strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and our citizens".
4.Lieutenant General Man Raj Singh Mann, GOC, 33 Corps, expressed, "Soldierathon is a unique event that offers a lifetime opportunity to run with and for
our brave soldiers who stand vigil round the clock on the borders".
5.With participants crossing the finish line smiling and feeling accomplished, the 'Sikkim Soldierathon 2.0' was yet again a resounding success. The organisers were dedicated to making this event a memorable experience, symbolising the spirit of resilience, determination & sportsmanship.
