The first Batch of Students Training under the Sarathi 1.0(Supported By Titan Company Limited ) Module was successfully conducted at ADC Rurban Conference Hall, Soreng District.
Under the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) to make Sikkim “Addiction free and suicide free Sikkim” and under the guidance of Shri Aditya Golay Honble MLA Soreng – Chakung and under the guidance of Shri Rohit Raj Gurung (Advisor to HCM and Sarathi 1.0 Resource person.
A total of 32 student (2 boys and 2 girls) from each 8 participating government secondary school in Soreng—took part in the training.The event was hosted by Mr. Samir Rai, Sarathi Coordinator, Soreng District. The program began with vibrant cultural performances by Mingma Tshering Sherpa (Tikpur SS) and Hissey Ongmu Sherpa (Okhrey SS), creating a lively and positive atmosphere.
An engaging ice-breaking session was led by Mr. Bishal Sharma, Project Director, followed by a warm welcome from Miss Tila Rupa Chettri, Sarathi Coordinator, Soreng District. Mr. Sharma also facilitated group activities where students presented key topics in four groups:
Addiction – Types, causes, and ways to overcome it
Mental Health – Understanding and maintaining mental well-being
Mobile Addiction – Positive and negative impacts of mobile phone usage
Communication Skills – Types and importance of communication for students
Students actively participated in a Chinese Whisper Game, which encouraged teamwork and improved communication among the participants.
The post-lunch session featured additional cultural performances by Mingma Tshering Sherpa (Okhrey SS) and Surendra Chettri (Rumbuk SS). This was followed by a Skit Competition, where all four groups performed short plays on themes like peer pressure, mobile addiction, and moral values. These performances reflected real-life scenarios and showcased the students’ creativity and understanding of social issues.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to the students, coordinators, and all contributors to the initiative.
The program focused on spreading awareness about drug abuse, mental health, mobile addiction, and communication skills. It also included group activities, games, skits, and cultural performances by the students.
The training helped students learn how to take care of their mental health, avoid bad habits, and become leaders who can bring positive change in their schools and communities.
