As part of the Urban Development Department, Soreng’s yearly calendar, a programme was successfully organized on 15th October 2025 under the theme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” The event was conducted under the supervision of Smt. Mary Gold Lucksom.
The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Shri T.B. Subba, Panchayat Member, Soreng GPU Ward No. 1. The programme also had the presence of Shri Ashok Pradhan, President, Bazaar Committee; Mrs. Jyoti Rizal, Mrs. Nim Phuti Bhutia, and Mr. Toriman Subba as Guests of Honour. The Special Guests for the day were Shri T.B. Subba from the Food & Civil Supplies Department and Mrs. Kanchan Subba from the Culture Department.
A Quiz Competition formed the highlight of the event, witnessing enthusiastic participation from several departments of Soreng District, namely:
Culture Department
Food & Civil Supplies Department
Horticulture Department
Agriculture Department
Excise Department
Motor Vehicle Department
Transport Department
After an engaging and insightful competition, the Culture Department secured the First Position, followed by the Agriculture Department in Second Place, and the Food & Civil Supplies Department in Third Place.
The programme also featured a vibrant dance performance by members of the business community, presented by Shri Indra Bdr. Gurung and Mrs. Chanda Rawat, adding colour and energy to the event.
As a gesture of appreciation, tokens of love were presented to all invited guests. Mementos were awarded to all participants, and certificates were presented to the top three winning departments.
In recognition of their contributions and to celebrate women empowerment, Smt. Jyoti Rizal and Smt. Nim Phuti Bhutia were specially honoured.
The event concluded with an insightful speech by the Bazaar Officer, emphasizing the importance of both physical and mental cleanliness. The Chief Guest, Shri T.B. Subba, also delivered a thoughtful address on the significance of maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings and fostering a sense of civic responsibility.
