DC Gyalshing convenes a meeting with the officers of the Education Department, Gyalshing.
Gyalshing,October 14th: A coordination meeting of the officers and officials of the Education Department,Gyalshing District, was held at the office of DC Gyalshing under the chairmanship of the District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa,today.
The meeting had the presence of Chief Education Officer(CEO) Mr Pema Gyalsten Bhutia, Joint Director Mr Rajesh Thapa,Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and Education Officers from the five Block Education Offices of the district.
District Collector, Gyalshing, directed the officials to visit poor performing schools on a priority basis, formulate strategies and submit reports on improvement fortnightly to the District Education Office to be compiled and forwarded to the Headquarters through the District Collector. He directed the officials to be more serious in the school inspection visits and to get solutions to usher in improvement in the progress reports. He further instructed the officials to give special focus to the CM SHRI School GSS Karjee and 02 Governor-adapted schools.
It was also informed in the meeting about his plans to visit schools across the district,after the Diwali vacation and approved proposal to award the best performing teachers during the Independence Day Celebration next year.
The team of officials headed by CEO reported on the progress and ongoing initiatives of Chief Minister Mentorship Programme 2025.Further,the reports of the baseline assessment conducted in schools were presented to the DC, who inquired about the lag in progress in the performance in the Mathematics subject, which has remained almost unchanged in the past few decades.
CEO, Gyalshing, informed the officers that visiting all schools with at least 02 Secondary or Senior Secondary Schools in a week will be mandatory for all Block Education officials. The inspection will also be done by the District Education Office(DEO) officials frequently.
The issues related to the questions prescribed for baseline assessment currently in use in schools were discussed. The Block Education officials were directed to closely monitor poor-performing schools as identified by the District Education Office. He proposed that the officials visiting the schools will discuss the baseline assessment report with the subject teachers and report on the remedial actions. He further proposed a special follow up of schools not conducting winter coaching during winter vacation and that all block officials will submit a tentative inspection schedule to the office of the District Collector.
