Two-Day Teachers Training Program Successfully Concludes in Soreng District
Under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), and with the support of Titan Company Limited, a two-day Teachers Training Program under Sarathi 1.0 was successfully conducted on October 10th & 11th, 2025, at the ADC Rurban Conference Hall, Soreng. The program aimed to build an addiction-free and suicide free Sikkim through awareness-building and teacher capacity enhancement.
A total of 32 teachers (1 male and 1 female) from each of the 16 Government Secondary Schools in Soreng District) actively participated in the training.
Day 1: Awareness & Engagement
The first day began with opening remarks by Ms. Ashmita Tamang (Chief Coordinator, Sarathi 1.0) and a welcome address by Ms. Tila Rupa Chettri (District Coordinator). An engaging ice-breaking session was led by Mr. Bishal Sharma (Project Director), setting the tone for collaboration and reflection. Teachers took part in a group Situation Analysis on the theme “Why Addiction in Students?”, identifying key contributing factors such as family neglect, peer influence, and access to mobile phones. A video screening and presentation showcased Sarathi 1.0 initiatives, including the Sarathi Titan Cup, Reels Making Competition, and the upcoming Skit Competition.
The day also featured vibrant cultural performances and a powerful session by Ms. Ringku Rai (Mental Health Counselor), who stressed the significance of mental wellness in education.
Day 2: Creative Expression & Closing Ceremony
Day two began with a warm welcome by Ms. Natasha Pariyar (State Coordinator), followed by a group activity and cultural performances. Teachers then presented skits on six critical themes, including: The impact of mobile phones, Parental addiction, Broken families, Peer pressure, the role of Sarathi Clubs and Teachers role in building a mentally healthy Sikkim . The valedictory session was graced by Chief Guest Shri Eras Lepcha (Additional Political Secretary to HCM) and other dignitaries, including OSD Ramon Thapa, OSD Rajen Basnett, and CLC representatives. The session featured inspiring speeches, feedback from participating teachers, and cultural presentations.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pariyar and certificate distribution to all participants.
Sarathi 1.0 continues to empower educators as change-makers in tackling addiction and mental health challenges among students—paving the way for a healthier, stronger, and more resilient Sikkim.
