“EK PED MAA KE NAAM” PLANTATION DRIVE AT TAKSANG KAIZALAY PRIMARY SCHOOL
Pakyong, 11th October: In alignment with the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister to stay connected to the Earth and foster a culture of environmental responsibility, Education Department Block Education Office, Pakyong, under the Guidance of Deputy Director Shri. H. N Shenga organized a special plantation program under the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.
The campaign, launched across the country to honor mothers and promote environmental conservation, symbolizes the deep connection between nurturing life and preserving nature. The program at Taksang Kaizalay Primary School sought to bring this vision to life by engaging students and the community in meaningful, hands-on environmental action.
As part of the initiative, potted Guava, orange saplings, along with various shade and ornamental plants, were planted across the school premises. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Headmaster of the School Shri. Dharni Prasad Sharma, students, teachers, and non-teaching staff, came together with remarkable zeal to prepare the soil, plant, and nurture the saplings. The collaborative spirit transformed the activity into a celebration of community and environmental harmony.
The Students were encouraged to integrate tree care into their daily routines, reminding them that true environmental stewardship lies in consistent effort and awareness. The School’s commitment to creating green spaces and promoting environmental literacy through eco-clubs and sustainability-based activities was appreciated.
To deepen the emotional connection with the cause, each sapling was tagged with the name of a student and their mother — symbolizing both affection and responsibility. The event concluded with a “Green Pledge”, where participants vowed to protect nature, conserve resources, and adopt eco-friendly habits in everyday life.
