PPHF Conducts Integrated Livestock Health Check-up Camp at Topung Village, under 11-Rimbi-Timbrong GPU, Yuksam,Gyalshing
Gyalshing, October 11: An Integrated Livestock Health Check-up Camp was successfully held today at Topung Village, under 11-Rimbi-Timbrong GPU, Yuksam, Gyalshing District.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Government of Sikkim, SSB 72 BN and People to People Health Foundation (PPHF) under the HRDP–HDFC Parivartan initiative.
The Chief Guest, Panchayat President, 11-Rimbi Timbrong GPU Mr Mangal Rai, and the Guest of Honour, Ward Panchayat President, 11-Rimbi Timbrong GPU Mr Dhan Singh Limboo, addressed the gathering. They appreciated the joint efforts of all collaborating departments and encouraged the villagers to make full use of such programmes for the welfare of their livestock and economic livelihood.
The camp focused on providing medical services and awareness to the villagers of Topung and Singlitam.
Veterinary Officer, Yuksam Dr Mikkit Lepcha and CT/Veterinary Officer, SSB 72 BN Dr Narendra Sain led the technical sessions. They shared valuable information on protecting animals through organic practices and modern veterinary medicines.
A major highlight of the camp was the awareness drive on Animal Insurance, where villagers were educated about the benefits and process of insuring their livestock. Sessions also covered vaccination awareness, disease prevention and proper treatment care.
Medicines were distributed free of cost for cows, pigs, goats, sheep, horses, hens, and all pets, ensuring wide coverage.
The programme was well-coordinated by Mr Samar Das and Mr Ankit Kumar(Assistant Programme Managers, PPHF), along with Mr Susan Rai, Mr Ong Tshering Bhutia(Community Facilitators), ensuring smooth execution and community engagement.
This initiative marks a vital step in improving livestock health and enhancing the livelihoods of rural farmers in the region.
