On 8th October, the Agricultural Census Unit Department of Agriculture, Government of Sikkim, organized a State Level Policy Distribution Drive “MERI POLICY MERE HATH” Campaign for Kharif 2025 under PMFBY at New SAMETI Hall, Tadong, Gangtok.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of, Agriculture Department Shri. Jigme Dorjee Bhutia, Smt. Rachna Gurung, Additional Director, Agri. Census Unit Shri. Amit Lamichaney, Lead District Manager, SBI, also present were Mr Saurabh Tripathi, Manager, Generali Central Insurance Company, Deputy Directors, District Officers and field functionaries of different districts, District representatives of Insurance Companies, Farmers and staff of Agri. Census and SAMETI.
The programme was hosted by Mr Paulyoung Chettri, Krishi Sevak,Agri Census Unit.
Dr. Sangay Gyampo Bhutia, Assistant Director, Agri. Census Unit delivered his welcome address.
Mr. Saurabh Tripathi, Manager, Generali Central Insurance Company, gave a brief presentation on PMFBY and explained the details and the benefits of the scheme.
Smt.Rachna Gurung, Additional Director, State Nodal Officer for PMFBY, delivered a brief note highlighting the significance of the programme. She mentioned that the doorstep policy distribution drive “Meri Policy Mere Hath” (MPMH) will be organized under PMFBY for the Kharif 2025 season from 1st October to 31st October across all districts of the state. The campaign aims to deliver crop insurance policies at the farmers' doorstep, along with intensive awareness generation and farmer sensitization activities at the Gram Panchayat level.
Policy distribution to some of the farmers was also carried out during the programme.
Shri. Jigme Dorjee Bhutia Secretary, Agriculture Department, delivered his keynote address highlighting the importance of PMFBY scheme in the state of Sikkim. He also discussed the issues and gave suggestions for better functioning to increase the enrollment process and ease the claim settlement process. In his address, he appreciated the work done by district officials and Agri. Census staff under the leadership of the State Nodal Officer, Smt. Rachna Gurung.
An interaction session with the insurance company officials was held discussing the problems faced by the field officers and farmers during the claim settlement process.
Mr. Dewas Luitel Krishi Sevak, Agri Census Unit, delivered his vote of thanks to conclude the programme.
