Delhi, October 01: Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman, Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), today held a meeting with Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, IAS, Secretary; Shri Shridarth Jain, Joint Secretary; Shri Kapil Meena, Director and other officials of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi.
The meeting focused on the preparations for the Rashtriya Sahakari Sammelan, scheduled to be held in Gangtok on 26th October 2025 under the theme:
“Sahakar se Samriddhi, Samriddhi se Sashakt Bharat.”
The Sammelan is being organized by the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) under the aegis of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, in collaboration with the Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim. The Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah Ji, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The date of the programme was recently confirmed by the PS to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation.
The programme will be held under the overall guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim and the Hon’ble Cooperation Minister of Sikkim.
Key Highlights of the Meeting
Mahila Sambad: A special interactive session where women cooperative members will engage directly with the Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister.
Ensuring wide participation: With representation from national-level federations, state unions, PACS, FPOs and SHGs across the country.
Exhibition of cooperative products: Showcasing innovations, achievements and success stories from diverse cooperative sectors.
Finalization of venue, programme schedule and invitations: Ensuring smooth coordination and successful execution.
During the meeting, Dr. Rai expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for the initial allocation of funds towards the Sammelan, while also requesting additional financial support considering the scale and national significance of the event.
The Secretary acknowledged the committed efforts being undertaken to strengthen the cooperative movement and assured that the request for enhanced financial support would receive due consideration.
Later, Dr. Rai also met Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Retd. IAS, Chief Executive of NCUI, at his office on August Kranti Road, New Delhi. The discussions focused on the active participation of NCUI members in the Sammelan. The Chief Executive assured full support towards programme coordination and mobilization.
