Gangtok, September 26: Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), organised two Shramdaan events on 25th September 2025 under the following themes:
Swachhata Hi Sewa – promoting the habit of cleanliness and better health through a cleanliness drive at Adampool, Gangtok.
Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam – promoting environmental sustainability by planting saplings to honour the nurturing spirit of motherhood, organised inside the STP Complex at Adampool, Gangtok.
The initiatives were organised by PHED, Government of Sikkim, under the guidance of the National River Conservation Directorate, Ministry of Jal Shakti, with the special participation of a team from the Central Water Commission led by Shri Karma Pintso Bhutia, Assistant Engineer, CWC, Gangtok.
The events were held under the leadership of Ven. Sonam Lama, Hon’ble Minister, PHE, Water Resources and Ecclesiastical Departments, and highlighted the importance of collective community action through Shramdaan and awareness activities.
Both events witnessed enthusiastic voluntary participation from the local public and officials of the Department, reinforcing the Government’s commitment towards building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Sikkim.
