Community Learns Lifesaving Skills at Flood & Landslide Drill in Dentam
Gyalshing, September 23: Residents of Dentam witnessed a practical demonstration of disaster preparedness at PM Shri Government Secondary School, Milling, Karmatar, as PPHF and HDFC Parivartan organised a mock drill on floods and landslides.
Under the guidance of the SSB 72 Battalion Disaster Management Team, students, teachers and community members participated in hands-on exercises including evacuation and emergency response. The event emphasised how communities can work together to reduce risks during natural disasters.
The Chief Guest Zilla Member (Gitang-Karmatar, TC) Ms Devi Maya Chettri praised the collaboration between civil society, government bodies and security forces. “Preparedness saves lives,” she stressed, highlighting the need for local readiness in disaster-prone areas.
The programme concluded with interactive discussions, leaving participants better equipped to respond effectively in emergencies.
