Cleanliness Drive at Nathula under Sewa Pakhwada Initiative
Gangtok, September 22: A cleanliness drive was organized today at Nathula under the Sewa Pakhwada initiative by the Permit Cell, HQ, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department.
The drive was conducted in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Sikkim Police Check Post, Indian Army, Tsomgo Pokhiri Sangrakchan Samiti (TPSS), and various tourism stakeholders’ associations, namely TAAS, ASTHA, SUTO, SAATO, and the JN Road Taxi Drivers-cum-Owners Association.
The event saw active participation from over 70 individuals, including officials from the Permit Cell, SHO Sherathang and his team, Gram Panchayat Yakla, Sherathang, and representatives from TPSS and the various tourism associations.
The collective efforts of these participants contributed significantly to the success of the cleanliness drive, which aimed to maintain environmental hygiene and promote sustainable tourism in the region.
The drive focused on cleaning the Nathula area and its surrounding environment, ensuring that it remains pristine for both locals and tourists. The collaborative efforts highlighted the importance of community participation in preserving the natural beauty of Sikkim.
