Mock Drill on Flood & Landslide Management Conducted at PM Shri Govt. Senior Secondary School, Dentam
Gyalshing, September 22: A robust Mock Drill and Training Initiative on Flood Control and Landslide Management was successfully conducted at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Dentam under Gyalshing District. The event was organised by People to People Health Foundation (PPHF) under the HRDP-HDFC Parivartan CSR Initiative FY 2025–2026, in collaboration with the SSB 72 BN Disaster Management Team.
This crucial training aimed to build community resilience and preparedness in the face of increasing natural disasters. The drill provided hands-on experience in emergency response, evacuation procedures and coordinated action during flood and landslide scenarios.
A special highlight of the event was the active participation of the SSB 72 Battalion Disaster Management Team, led by Mr Sardari Lal (Assistant Commandant, SSB 72 BN) and Mr Mustkin Ahmed (Inspector, SSB 72 BN), along with their specialized team. Their practical demonstrations and expert guidance significantly enhanced the learning experience for all participants.
The event was graced by Zilla Member Mr Dinesh Gurung as the Chief Guest who stressed the importance of community-based disaster preparedness and praised the collaboration between government bodies, civil society, and security forces.
Also present were Assistant Programme Managers from PPHF Mr Samar Das and Mr Ankit Kumar, who spearheaded the planning and execution of the programme.
Distinguished guests included Mr Mahendra Gurung (Panchayat President), Mr. Dilli Ram Bhutia, Ms Man Maya Limboo(Panchayat Member), Ms Nenuka Chettri, VAA along with respected teachers, students, and members of the local community.
The programme concluded with an interactive session and a strong message: Preparedness saves lives. The collaborative efforts of PPHF, SSB, and local stakeholders showcased an effective model for disaster management at the grassroots level.
