Government of Sikkim confers Best Performing Gram Panchayat Award to Yuksam-Dubdi GPU on the theme “Women Friendly Village” for the year 2023–24
Gyalshing, September 21: The Government of Sikkim has conferred the Best Performing Gram Panchayat Award to Yuksam-Dubdi Gram Panchayat Unit of Gyalshing District in recognition of its exemplary efforts and contributions towards the theme “Women Friendly Village” for the year 2023–24.
The award was presented during the Sewa Pakhwada 2025 state-level function held in Gangtok on Tuesday, September 17. Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur and Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay jointly presented the award in the august presence of Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Mr Arun Kumar Upreti, and Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Mr Dushyant Pariyar.
Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay congratulated Yuksam-Dubdi Gram Panchayat Unit for its outstanding performance and dedicated service to the people.
The Yuksam-Dubdi GPU has been actively working towards gender equity and women empowerment by implementing central and state welfare schemes at the grassroots. Notable initiatives include ensuring 100% enrollment of girl children in schools, creating employment opportunities for women under MGNREGA and other schemes, and promoting inclusive participation in local governance.
This recognition highlights the Yuksam-Dubdi GPU’s commitment to fostering gender-friendly governance and building a safe, supportive environment for women at the grassroots level.
