Gangtok, September 13:
A follow-up inspection under Mission Clean Sky was carried out today along major stretches of Gangtok, covering Tibet Road, Namnang Road, Lal Bazaar, and Tharo Line, to review the progress of cable management and related works and identify the right-of-way mapping for the cables.
The inspection was led by the Assistant Collector, Gangtok District, and was accompanied by Sr. Bazar Officer, GMC, Assistant Engineer, Smart City , Assistant Director, IT, DC Office, Training Officer, DDMA Gangtok, officials from the Smart City and Power Department, along with representatives from various Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
During the inspection, several important observations were made, and the Assistant Collector issued clear directives to the ISPs regarding ensuring proper cable alignment, minimising clutter, and adhering to safety and aesthetic standards.
In addition, the Assistant Director provided information about the structured plan for 12 designated cable crossovers along the inspected routes. This plan will be shared with the ISPs for implementation, ensuring streamlined cable crossings and reducing the risk of haphazard installations.
The inspection marks a continued effort by the District Administration in collaboration with concerned departments and service providers to improve urban infrastructure, enhance public safety, and maintain the visual appeal of Gangtok’s cityscape.
