Gangtok, September 10:
Science Drama is a calendar event conducted annually by
SCERT in collaboration with National Council for Science Museum (NCSM),
Ministry of Culture, Government of India to encourage students, teachers and science communicators to explore experiment and use the powerful medium of drama as a means of science communication. Theatre or Drama is an age-old cultural form of our society used for entertainment, recreation and also as a medium of social interaction to put forward crucial social messages before a larger audience across linguistic and cultural barriers in young students of secondary level. A total of 33 schools were invited to participate in the district level Science Drama Competition.
The District Level Science Drama – 2025 was organized on 10th September 2025
in all the six (6) districts. The main theme for this year competition was “Science
and Technology for the benefit of Mainkind.
”
The winning school of the six (6) districts will be participating in State Level Science Drama on 24th September 2025 to be held at SCERT Sikkim, Gangtok. The winner at the state level science drama will represent state in the Zonal Level Science Drama Competition in the 3rd week of November 2025 at National Science
Centre, Guwahati.
The Science Drama competition of students was evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of Assistant Professors of Government Degree Colleges, Post Graduate Teachers from JNV, Senior officers of Agriculture, Horticulture and Information & Technology Departments, Faculty members of National Drama School Gangtok.
The district wise details of the science drama are as follows:
Gangtok District:
The event was graced by Shri TB Rai, Deputy Director, Nandok Block as the Chief
Guest. The judges for the science drama were Dr. Ronal Rai, Assistant Professor, Nar
Bahadur Bhandari Govt. Degree College, Tadong, Dr. Passang Tamang, Additional
Director, Horticulture Department and Shri Suman Rai, Choreographer with Diploma
in NSD. The event was coordinated by Ms. Roshni Sharma Faculty, SCERT and Ms.
Nikita Gurung, Faculty SCERT was the observer. The winners of the science drama
were:
1st Position: Govt. Secondary School, Middle Camp
2nd Position: Govt. Secondary School, Penlong
3rd Position: PM SHRI Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bojoghari
Pakyong District:
The event was graced by Ms. Poonam Pradhan Joint Director, District Education Office, Pakyong as the Chief Guest. The judges for the science drama were,
Dr. Krishna Sharma, Assistant Professor, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt. Degree
College, Tadong, Ms Rebika Gurung, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department,
Pakyong District and Dr. Madan Mani Dhakal, Chief Medical Officer, Pakyong
District Hospital. The event was coordinated by Shri Binod Basnett, Lecturer, DIET Gangtok and Shri Ajay Pokhrel, Faculty, SCERT was the observer. The winners of the science drama were:

2nd Position: Govt. Secondary School, Mukuley
3rd Position: Govt. Senior Secondary School, Machong

The event was graced by Shri Pintso Tashi Lepcha, Deputy Director, District
Education Office, Mangan as the Chief Guest. The judges for the science drama were,
Dr. Teevendra Subba, Dental Surgeon, Mangan District Hospital, Shri Lapchen
Lepcha, Diploma holder form the National School of Drama and Shri Pranit Gurung,
Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Mangan District. The event was
coordinated by Ms. Pema Palden Bhutia Faculty, SCERT and Ms, Lensong Lepcha,
Faculty, SCERT was the observer. The winners of the science drama were:

2nd Position: Govt. Secondary School, Manul
3rd Position: Govt Secondary School, Tingvong
Namchi District:
The event was by Shri Suraj Rai, Chief Education Officer, Namchi District and Shri
G.P. Sharma, Additional Director, District Education Office, Namchi as the Chief
Guests, Ms Bandana Chettri, Principal, DIET, Namchi as the Guest of Honour. The
judges for the science drama were, Ms Nirmala Moktan, Additional Director,
Adriculture Department, Namchi District, Ms Ranjana RaiAssistant Director, IT
Department, Namchi District, Dr. Kamal Chettri, Assistant Profeesor, Govt. Degree
College, Kamrang-Namchi. The event was coordinated by Ms Nayuma Rai, Lecturer,
DIET Namchi and Shri Parijit Sutradhar, Assistant Professor, SCERT was the
observer. The winners of the science drama were:
1st Position: Govt. Senior Secondary School, Kewzing
2nd Position: PM SHRI Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Namchi
3rd Position: Govt. Secondary School, Salghari

Gyalshing as the Chief Guest and one of the judges. The judges for the science drama
were, Ms Til Kumari Limboo, Agriculture and Soil Expert, Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK), Gyalshing District and Shri Linus Sherpa, Assistant Director, IT Section,
Land Revenue Department, Gyalshing District. The event was coordinated by Ms
Sadhna Gurung, Lecturer, DIET Gyalshing and Shri Lewan Sharma, Faculty, SCERT
was the observer. The winners of the science drama were:

2nd Positions: PM SHRI Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya
3rd Position: Govt. Senior Secondary School, Dentam

Soreng District as the Chief Guest. The judges for the science drama were, Shri Manoj
Kumar Pradhan, Assistant Professor, Govt. Science College, Chakung, Shri Amir
Gurung, PDA, Rural Development Department and Amir Bhandari, Assistant
Director, IT Department, District Administrative Center, Soreng. The event was
coordinated by Shri Subash Gurung, District Coordinator, District Education Office,
Soreng District and Shri Kuldip Sharma, Senior Lecturer, SCERT and Shri Keshap
Sharma, Faculty SCERT were the observers. The winners of the science drama were:
