SCERT Sikkim organises the District Level Science Seminar
Gangtok, September 09: Science Seminar is a calendar event conducted annually by SCERT in collaboration with National Council for Science Museum (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India to inculcate a spirit of scientific inquiry and analytical thinking in young students of secondary level.
The District level Science Seminar – 2025 for the Government School Students was organized on 9th September 2025 in all the six (6) districts of Sikkim. The topic for this year competition was “Quantum Age Begins: Potential and Challenges.” A total of 95 schools were invited to participate in the district level Science Seminar.
The top two (2) schools from each of the six districts will be participating in State Level Science Seminar on 25th September 2025 to be held at SCERT Sikkim, Gangtok. The winner at the state level seminar will represent state in National Science Seminar 2025 to be held at Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bengaluru.
The Science Seminar competition of students was evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of Assistant Professors of Government Degree Colleges, Joint Director of relevant departments/institutes and Post Graduate Teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
The district wise details of the science seminar are as follows:
Gangtok District:
The event was graced by Shri CK Sharma Deputy Director, Nandok Block and Shri Deepak Rai Deputy Director, District Education office, Gangtok as the Chief Guests. The judges for the seminar were, Dr. Ronal Rai, Assistant Professor, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt. Degree College, Tadong, Dr. Himanshu Joshi, SRM University and Dr. Ambika Pradhan SRM University. The winners of the seminar were:
1st Position: Sonam Tshering Bhutia, Modern Senior Secondary School.
2nd Position: Wangda D. Lepcha, PM SHRI Govt. Senior Secondary School, Singtam
3rd Position: Newson Subba, Government Secondary School, Upper Burtuk
Pakyong District:
The event was graced by Ms. Poonam Pradhan, Joint Director, District Education Office, Pakyong as the Chief Guest. The judges of the seminar were, Dr. Krishna Sharma, Assistant Professor, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Govt. Degree College, Tadong, Shri Praveen Sharma, PGT Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pakyong and Shri Ahseesh Gupta, Joint Director, Technical, NIELIT, Gangtok. The winners of the seminar were:
