Awareness Program on PMKVY and Women’s Empowerment Held at Pachey SSS
Pakyong, September 9: As part of a 10-day Special Awareness Campaign, an awareness program on Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Empowering Women through Higher Education, Vocational Training, and Skill Development was successfully conducted today at Pachey Senior Secondary School, Pakyong District, Sikkim.
The program was attended by the Vice Principal Mr.V.C.Sharma, teachers, and students of Classes 10, 11, and 12. The objective was to familiarize students with the opportunities available under government initiatives and to highlight the growing importance of vocational training in today’s world.
The resource person, Mr. Aftab Ansari, Centre Manager of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, 9th Mile, Ranipool, East Sikkim, delivered an elaborate and interactive session. He introduced the objectives of PMKVY and explained the registration process for free training programs under the scheme. He also shared detailed information on eligibility criteria, age requirements, course duration, and the range of skill sectors covered.
Mr. Ansari further highlighted that under PMKVY, trainees receive 100% placement opportunities upon completing their training, ensuring they are job-ready and able to transition directly into the workforce. He emphasized the role of vocational training in enhancing employability, boosting self-confidence, and preparing youth for real-life challenges. Stressing the importance of women’s empowerment, he encouraged young women to pursue higher education and skill development programs as a pathway to personal growth and societal progress.
The program began with a welcome address by Gender Specialist Ms. Kusum Sharma, who underscored the importance of spreading awareness among young students.
As a gesture of encouragement, gifts and sweets were distributed to the students, adding joy to the occasion.
The event concluded on a positive note with enthusiastic participation from students and strong support from teachers. The session proved to be highly informative and inspiring, motivating students to explore the wide range of opportunities available under PMKVY and to recognize the significance of skill development and women’s empowerment in shaping a brighter future.
